When I left San Francisco, I had one key to my name, that being the car key to my 2003 Honda Element. Now, I have many keys. To my office, to classrooms, and now to my new (rented) house, which I’m moving into this upcoming week.
It’s a small thing, a metaphor perhaps, of my growing attachments/responsibilities here in Pittsburgh. In some sense, living in this Airbnb for these last three weeks has been tricking my brain into thinking somehow this is all temporary, that I’m on some kind of extended consulting gig and not living and working here now. The house and the arrival of my furniture will probably, hopefully dispel that myth.
I went over to the house to drop off some things and look around before all my furniture arrives on Thursday.
It was the first day in like a week it wasn’t raining and there was a beautiful sunset on my street.
Strange this will be the street where I live in a few days.
Really enjoy reading these - a little slice of life a day.
